Jibo is making his rounds at a number of select hackathons and events, as you’ve seen in earlier posts.  It is all about creating awareness of Jibo as a platform and learning about how people think about building skills for Jibo.  We are continuously amazed and inspired by the ideas people bring to the table.

A couple weeks ago, we had the chance to be a part of MLH Prime in Austin, TX.  This annual event brings together 400+ top student developers from the Southwest. They have 24 hours to build something from scratch, which they then present for the opportunity to win recognition and prizes.  We were pleased to see the enthusiasm of the students around Jibo as a platform, with 13 teams choosing to build on Jibo for the event.

Here are a few of the fun stats from the event:

  • Out of 70+ teams, 13 used the Jibo SDK.
  • Out of the top 7 finalists, 2 used the Jibo SDK. One of them took 2nd place.
  • The Jibo Workshop was packed (50 + people) and required organizers to bring in extra chairs.
  • Jibo was streamed on the front page of Twitch.tv with 10K+ people viewing it live.  https://www.twitch.tv/mlh/v/100882330

The skills built for Jibo included:

It is great to see the creativity and ideas that are emerging.
